How To Safely Remove Floor Tape From A Painted Surface
Any tape can damage a painted wooden floor if the floor is not in good condition
Long term exposure to UV rays (sun light) and water damage both will make the floor more prone to damage when the tape is removed
To safely remove tape from a damaged floor, carefully lift the leading edge of the tape from the floor and pull up at a 45 degree angle. This means that the longer the piece of tape you are removing is, the higher your hand will have to lift in order to maintain this angle
Removing the tape in long continuous strips is less likely to damage the floor than multiple short lengths
Pull the tape up at a slow constant speed, being careful to observe what is happening as the tape leaves the floor
If it appears that the paint is beginning to come up with the floor tape, stop pulling and begin pulling from the opposite direction
