Gym Floor Tape Glossary

Synthetic Rubber Adhesive Petroleum-based adhesive designed to   have similar adhesion to natural rubber adhesive but to remove residue free

Tensile Strength Amount of force designed to tear a piece of floor tape, measured in pounds per square inch

Adhesion to Steel – Measurement of how “sticky” a floor tape product is, measured in ounces per square inch of force required to remove it from a stainless steel surface

Kraft Paper  Paper – Paper produced from chemical pulp of softwood lumber – used for highest quality paper products

Impregnated Tape – Tape with vinyl component designed to make it more durable and stain resistant

Mil 1/1000 of an inch  – Thickness of gym floor tape is measured in “mils”

Repositionable Adhesive – Tape adhesive that allows for removal and reapplication

Unwind – The amount of force required to unwind adhesive-backed tape from its core

Edge Tear Resistance – Ability of a floor tape product to resist tearing pressure applied to the side of the tape after it is in place
